World-renowned photojournalist, Brian Sokol has spent the last decade in Asia documenting the conflict in the Himalayan region. His photographs have appeared in publications such as The New York Times, Stern and Time Magazine. He is the recipient of National Geographic Magazine’s Eddie Adams grant and was recognized as one of Photo District News’ 30 emerging photographers to watch. Most recently Brian accompanied Obakki’s Founder and Creative Director, Treana Peake, while drilling fresh water wells in South Sudan. INSPIRATION BEHIND THE FALL/WINTER 2012 COLLECTION
Obakki’s Fall/Winter 2012 Collection explores the dramatic timeline of South Sudan, telling a story through color, texture and pattern. Gun metal grays encased in sanguine, earthy neutrals and vibrant ultramarines punctuate each chronological stage.
Experience Obakki’s interpretation of the unique story of South Sudan as it unfolds through the Fall/Winter 2012 Collection. Through fashion and fundraising, the Obakki Foundation has been able to drill over 300 water wells in South Sudan this year alone.

The West Wind:Based in Vancouver, Obakki is a brand known for it’s chic deconstruction, at turns simple and complex. This season, artistic director Treana Peake employed pleats stemming from origami, delicate materials, diaphenous silks and luxe materials. The silhouettes suggest pieces that envelop, with airy, multidimensional blouses, topped off with a bolero. With a colour range from summer, there are neutrals, but also saffron, khaki and indigo.
