PRIMITIVE GEOMETRICS SS12 VIDEO
At the root of each Obakki design lies a rare and beautiful quality. The legacy of the brand is the ability to transport each collection on a unique journey of creative curiosity, stripping down every piece of inspiration to its pure and individual essence. Obakki Spring/Summer 2012 is a perfect example, where the forthcoming season pursues a true exploration of abstract design elements: organic simplicity juxtaposed with handcrafted skill and mathematical repetition.
The storyline weaved through the collection is primitive geometry. Inspired by prisms and floating fabrics, while utilizing mixed mediums to bring out kaleidoscopic dimensions and organic variegation, the aesthetic is a cascade of natural neutrals meshed with bold colourways to create distressed textural looks and visually rich rustic elegance.
The structural composition of the clothes shapes the line. Sculptural origami-like pleating, offset against soft draping and feminine airy silhouettes are the overarching features, permeating into trousers and whimsical pleated skirts, classic cocoon shaped tops and flowing draped dresses. Fabric weights are light and sheer offering a beautiful mix of modal cashmere and luxe linens, while a palette of natural nude colours are combined with rich flavours of saffron and indigo for the warmer months.
Here, Obakki takes us behind the scenes of their intensely beautiful forthcoming SS12.
