KOMONO | L*SPACE | NATIVE
Best Health Magazine

May is finally the time of year where we can realistically start shopping for our summer essentials without feeling like it’s a bit of wishful thinking. We’re turning to Best Health’s May 2014 issue for all our favourite Summer pieces. We’re going to be beach ready with our Komono shades and L*Space swimsuit.

Although we plan to go mainly barefoot in the sand, to and from the beach we will be sporting our Native slip-ons for a practical Summer shoe that won’t suffocate our sandy feet.

APRIL CALLS FOR NEW SHADES

Spring marks the time when we begin hoarding pairs of sunglasses, because the picnics, music festivals, and general afternoon frolicking activities will provide many outfits to pair them all with.

Up high on our sunnies wish-list this month are Komono's frames, which we spotted in the latest issue of FASHION. Their round shape makes us nostalgic for the ’90s, while the pretty shade of purple updates them for these modern times.

Suri take note: your fellow fashion-conscious peers just upped their game on the playground and in the classroom. Spotted in the latest issue of Today’s Parent, the Urbanears x Pendleton headphones (pictured above) are featured with other kid-friendly, navaho-inspired pieces. Now all you parents need to do is pick the perfect playlist to inspire their little minds.

LOULOU MAGAZINE

LOULOU Magazine's March issue has us feeling starstruck by this galactica-infused spread, capturing pieces inspired by this galaxy and beyond. Among them is Minimum's Silje skirt, which in our opinion, paired with the matching bomber jacket is simply out of this world!

KOMONO |
NUVO MAGAZINE

The Dreyfuss and Hippolyte lenses by Komono add a dynamic edge to these clean-cut menswear looks styled in NUVO Magazine’s Spring 2014 issue. We love these “bad-boy vibes” created through the moody lighting and green haze.

The March 2014 issue of Quebec-based magazine, Clin D’Oeil (translation = ‘Wink’) features some pretty killer outfits, perfect for looking effortlessly-cool while heading to the gym, or at least pretending you are. We are obsessed with the hippolyte sunglasses (second photo above) and power grid watch (pictured above), both by Komono

NATIVE SHOES |
EXPLORE THE WORLD OF NATIVE

With Spring right around the corner (well, almost), what better opportunity to seek out new footwear for roaming the music festivals and frolicking the beaches this year.

We are digging Native's quirky new web series, which documents their far and wide search for the Spring/Summer 2014 collection, including fun nautical prints and pretty pastels. With new episodes launching every few weeks, we're sure to be hooked.

Because warmer temperatures equal sweaty adventures, the lightweight, odour-free shoes from the Vancouver-born brand are the perfect spring staple.

Have a look and let us know which pair you’re eyeing. The full collection can be seen on Native’s website

WHAT’S REALLY GOOD

The sixth volume of What’s Really Good (WRG) brings Canada’s most beloved ice sport back to the beginning, capturing this gentleman’s game on the frozen ponds on which it originated. With the help of Minimum's Sky and Waylon jackets, WRG fuses “the spirit of competition with the utmost style,” refining sportswear on a whole new level.

URBANEARS & MARSHALL HEADPHONES |
MTV FORA

Here at DCPR, we are avid music listeners; from pop to indie rock to hip hop, you’re sure to hear music filling our office from open to close.

That’s why we just adore MTV Fora’s newest shoot “Beauty and the Beat” with host Phoebe Dykstra, which matches music and makeup (by artist Lucky Bromhead).

The shoot also features our favourite headphones, partnering them with a couple of-the-moment pop stars. The Urbanears x Pendleton Plattan headphones are a perfect match for the likes of an edgy M.I.A look while the Marshall Major Headphones lend to the sleek sophistication of singer Lorde.

After all, as MTV Fora says, experiencing music while still looking stylish is important. YES!

FJALLRAVEN |
MTV CANADA: THE NEW SHIT

Sweden’s Fjällräven received some well-deserved Canadian love on MTV Canada’s “The New Shit”. Five different men’s and women’s jackets from the Fall/Winter 2013 collection were featured in this winter coats-themed segment.

In addition to providing a history of the brand, the clip also highlights Fjällräven's unique features, like our personal favourite, the G1000 fabric. This densely woven fabric's durability can be strengthened with the application of their environmentally-friendly Greenland Wax. Waxing makes the garment both water and dirt repellant, allowing Fjällräven products to stand the test of time.

BECAUSE IT’S FRIDAY |
SEIHO – GOLD

This is the perfect track to get us into weekend mode. Japan-based DJ, Seiho’s newest release simply entitled as ‘Gold,’ is a fitting dance track to welcome the weekend. With its wonky based synths, complicated and detailed musical elements and topsy-turvy tempo, the complex elements blend perfectly to create one golden track.

May you feel like gold, because it’s Friday!
